Practice with Purpose: 4 R’s of Golf Etiquette
Maintaining a professional and respectful environment on the range is vital for everyone’s enjoyment. We teach all students and visitors to follow these essential rules to ensure a positive atmosphere for the entire Brantford golfing community.
- Replace your Divots: Always restore the turf after your swing to maintain the quality of the grass hitting area.
- Rake the Sand Trap: Ensure the bunkers are smooth and ready for the next player after you have finished your practice.
- Repair your Ball Marks on the Green: Fix any indentations made by your ball to keep the putting surface true and healthy.
- Respect Fellow Golfers: Be patient, keep your pace, and remain mindful of those practicing around you.
By following these simple rules and keeping up your practice on the driving range, you help maintain the standards of our facility. And remember the golden rule of the course: F.O.R.E. !
Interactive Group Golf Clinics
A Northfield Golf Clinic provides the perfect opportunity to enjoy the game in a social group setting. Our clinics are designed for groups of 5 to 8 people, depending on the skill level of the participants. During these sessions, both avid and occasional golfers can tune up their skills while learning essential “golf lingo” and discussing equipment like clubs and balls. Our instructors focus on five core technical areas to ensure a well-rounded improvement:
- Stance: Building a solid foundation for your swing.
- Grip: Mastering the most critical point of contact with the club.
- Back Swing: Creating the proper arc for power and accuracy.
- Forward Swing: Executing a smooth transition through the ball.
- Body Position and Posture: Ensuring alignment that promotes a fluent motion.
From the Range to the Course
During your clinic, you have the option to set up a small group to visit a nearby golf course with one of our professional instructors. This guided on-course experience allows you to apply what you’ve learned on the driving range to a real-game scenario. Please note that there is an additional cost for taking an instructor to the golf course, and several courses are located conveniently near our facility. Beyond improving your game, practicing at our range is an excellent way to stay active; hitting a large bucket of balls over the course of an hour burns approximately 175 calories.
Junior Golf Camps: Developing the Next Generation
Golf Development Program for Kids
Northfield Golf Centre is proud to host a National golf development program specifically designed to introduce the game to children with limited or no prior exposure. Our 5-day golf clinics are structured to be both educational and highly enjoyable, ensuring each child’s enthusiasm for the sport remains at its highest level. We keep our lessons simple and the children busy to maintain interest and cooperation across all ages and attentiveness levels. Prior to the start of the program, we recommend visiting our golf shop to have your junior’s clubs sized; however, we are also happy to supply clubs for use during the camp.
Camp Curriculum and Daily Schedule
Our instruction focuses on four key disciplines to provide a well-rounded foundation for young golfers:
- Safety: Ensuring a secure environment for all participants on the range.
- Courtesy: Teaching the importance of sportsmanship and respect.
- Rules and Etiquette: Introducing the traditional conduct and regulations of the game.
- Swing Fundamentals: Developing the core physical mechanics of a proper golf swing.
To ensure the kids “have fun,” we incorporate daily competitions for prizes and provide refreshments each day. The week concludes with an exciting final-day golf tournament where students can showcase their new skills. Camp begins promptly at 8:30 A.M. at the driving range, with daily pick-up at 1:00 P.M. To maintain the students’ privacy and focus, we ask that parents or guardians remain out of sight during camp hours. For those looking to advance a child’s skills beyond this introductory camp, we recommend visiting the Canadian Junior Golf Association website.
